[March 22, 2021] Testing automated list of products detected in videos: We are experimenting with a new feature that displays a list of products detected in some videos, as well as related products. The feature will appear in between the recommended videos, to viewers scrolling below the video player. The goal is to help people explore more videos and information about those products on YouTube. This feature will be visible to people watching videos in the US.
Purchase products from YouTube videos
The product list display has begun to be provided as a test function.
It seems that the products that appear in the video and related products are displayed below the main video player.
This is what Google has published as an example (it may be different from the actual one because it is a mockup image).
It seems to be a video of a Pixel 5 smartphone coming out.
The Pixel 5 and fabric case are listed as products.
It has the heading “Shop products in this video”, so tapping the “VIEW” link will take you to a page where you can buy the product.
You can buy it immediately after watching a YouTube video.
YouTube automatically decides what products to list.
Start from the United States
The YouTube product list starts in the United States.
At this stage, Google provides only concise information.
It’s unclear what videos, channels, and creators will be targeted.
The seller may place it as an advertisement.
It was a topic unrelated to SEO, but more and more e-commerce sites are using YouTube for promotion.
I introduced it in this article as a new feature that I would like to pay attention to.
